Unlike sight or hearing, humans have no dedicated sensory organ for time. Yet we constantly estimate durations, judge whether we're early or late, and sense when a minute has passed. 1. The Brain's Internal Clock

Scientists believe time perception relies on a distributed neural network rather than a single "clock" center. The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) in the hypothalamus regulates circadian rhythms (your 24-hour cycle), while the basal ganglia and cerebellum handle shorter intervals (seconds to minutes).
