Your Life in Weeks: A Powerful Perspective on Time

Inspired by Tim Urban's famous blog post "Your Life in Weeks," this tool transforms the abstract concept of a lifetime into a tangible visual grid. Each tiny square represents one week of your life — past, present, and future.

1. Why Visualize Life in Weeks?

We often think of life in years, but a year feels both long and vague. Weeks, on the other hand, are concrete — each one containing work days, weekends, meals, and moments. When you see approximately 4,300 of them laid out, the finiteness becomes visceral. It is not about fear — it is about clarity.

2. How to Read the Grid

Each row represents one year of life (52 weeks). Colored squares indicate past weeks, grouped by life stage: infancy (pink), student years (yellow), young adulthood (green), middle age (blue), and senior years (purple). The pulsing blue dot marks your current week.

3. Life Expectancy in Korea

South Korea's average life expectancy of ~83 years is among the highest in the world. However, healthy life expectancy (years without major disability) is about 73 years. The gap underscores why investing in health early matters.

4. Making Every Week Count

Use this visualization as a regular check-in. Ask yourself: "Am I spending this week on what truly matters?" Whether it is career goals, relationships, health, or learning — awareness of time passing is the first step toward intentional living.

"The trouble is, you think you have time." — attributed to Buddha. Use this timeline not as a source of anxiety, but as motivation to live with purpose.
